Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that as Chuseok approaches, a warm relay of sharing, centered around the neighborhood community centers and professional organizations, is continuing to practice neighborly love, giving a heartwarming impression.
Including the low-income resident holiday consolation project promoted by the district, the number of beneficiaries of sharing reaches about 13,000 households.
The district supports holiday consolation money (goods) to about 12,000 vulnerable households such as basic livelihood security recipients, single-parent families, child welfare facilities, and low-income disabled people. In addition, it plans to create a generous Chuseok atmosphere by delivering daily necessities such as rice and fruit to about 190 welfare facilities for the elderly and disabled.
A sharing event was also prepared for North Korean defectors who long for their hometown even more during the holidays. On the morning of the 21st, the Seoul Yangcheon-gu Council of the National Unification Advisory Council prepared daily necessity packages worth about 40,000 won per household, including new rice, ramen, and gim, and delivered them to 100 low-income North Korean defector households.
Throughout the local community, neighborhood community centers and professional organizations in the area are joining forces to continue the Chuseok neighborly love sharing parade. From September 21 to 25, in six neighborhoods including ▲ Mok 1 and 5-dong ▲ Sinwol 2, 3, and 5-dong ▲ Sinjeong 2-dong, the local community security councils and volunteer camps of each neighborhood will unite to prepare and deliver sharing packages consisting of holiday food and daily necessities to 500 households including senior centers and vulnerable groups, while checking on their well-being.
Mok 1-dong will present a Chuseok talent show and dance performance on the 25th, with local kindergarten children expressing respect for the elderly along with delivering daily necessities. Sinwol 2-dong delivered daily necessity packages to 300 households on the 21st through an annual regular joint donation sharing campaign by professional organizations. Sinwol 3-dong will hold a holiday food sharing ceremony on the 23rd for 50 low-income single-person households who are especially lonely during the holidays with no family to care for them. In Sinwol 5-dong, volunteers personally prepared holiday food and food boxes and delivered them to 50 vulnerable households on the 21st, adding to the warm impression.
