Creation of a 2,266㎡ Public Complex Building with 1 Basement and 5 Above-Ground Floors
Reflecting Welfare, Education, and Cultural Needs Including Book Space, Convergence Talent Education Center, and Shared Kitchen
Opening Ceremony on September 21... Enhanced Resident Convenience with Various Programs
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced on the 21st that it held the opening ceremony of the Singil 6-dong Public Complex Building, marking a new beginning.
The existing Singil 6-dong Community Center was built in 1984 and had become an aging facility after 35 years. Due to the old and cramped space, inconveniences for residents and staff had increased, and the need for a new building was continuously raised.
Accordingly, in 2019, the district received a proposal from the developer of the Sinpung Station area youth housing project to donate the new building, and began full-scale construction of the new public complex. In August of this year, the new public complex building, reflecting residents' welfare, education, and cultural needs, was completed and relocated.
The Singil 6-dong Public Complex was developed jointly with the nearby Sinpung Station youth housing site while securing an independent site and building. The site area expanded from the original 900㎡ to 996㎡, an increase of about 96㎡ (approximately 30 pyeong), due to the joint development. In particular, the developer covered construction costs and temporary building rental fees, significantly reducing the district’s budget burden for the new building.
The Singil 6-dong Public Complex was constructed with a total floor area of 2,266㎡, consisting of one basement floor and five above-ground floors. The facilities by floor include: ▲ Basement 1 ? mechanical and electrical rooms ▲ 1st floor ? Singil 6-dong Community Center ▲ 2nd floor ? book space (small library), district chief’s office ▲ 3rd floor ? Convergence Talent Education Center ▲ 4th floor ? shared kitchen, program rooms, and district headquarters ▲ 5th floor ? multipurpose auditorium ▲ rooftop garden.
The Singil 6-dong Public Complex was designed to accommodate both disabled and non-disabled users without inconvenience, featuring lowered thresholds for wheelchair and walker users and dedicated restrooms for the disabled.
The district expects that the Singil 6-dong Public Complex will enhance residents’ convenience by providing convenient administrative services and various programs.
The opening ceremony was held on the 5th floor multipurpose auditorium of the Singil 6-dong Public Complex on the 21st. About 100 people, including Yeongdeungpo District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon, party committee chairpersons, district council members, and residents, attended to celebrate the opening of the public complex.
The ceremony began with a congratulatory performance by Sia, a four-member female fusion gugak band, followed by ▲ national anthem and introduction of guests ▲ progress report ▲ commemorative and congratulatory speeches ▲ facility tour ▲ plaque unveiling ▲ and commemorative tree planting. Mayor Choi carefully examined the newly established public complex facilities and spent time communicating with local residents in a relaxed atmosphere.
