Which 5 Companies Will Manage the 100 Billion Won Suwon Saebit Fund?
The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province has established the ‘Suwon Enterprise Saebit Fund’ and selected five general partners (management companies) to manage and operate it. Suwon expects that once the fund is formed, it will be able to raise investment capital exceeding the initial target of 100 billion KRW.
The selected management companies are ▲Laguna Investment (early-stage startups) ▲Aju IB Investment (Fourth Industrial Revolution sector) ▲Samho Green Investment (bio sector) ▲Kolon Investment (materials, parts, and equipment sector) ▲FuturePlay (reboot sector).
Laguna Investment has extensive experience in early-stage investments, and Aju IB Investment, a major domestic management company, excels in closely supporting technology companies in the Fourth Industrial Revolution sector. Samho Green Investment, selected for the bio sector, has specialized in investing in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and bio fields.
Kolon Investment, chosen for the materials, parts, and equipment sector, also has rich investment experience in this area, and FuturePlay, selected for the reboot sector, has domestic and international investment networks expected to provide opportunities for re-startup companies.
The Suwon Enterprise Saebit Fund is designed to invest in startups, ventures, and small and medium-sized enterprises with technological capabilities but insufficient funding to help them grow. It will be established with a total size of over 100 billion KRW, including 10 billion KRW in capital from Suwon City. There is a mandatory investment agreement requiring that at least twice the amount of Suwon City’s capital contribution be invested in Suwon-based companies, which is expected to result in significant investment in local businesses.
