On the 20th, SKC held the '2023 My Green School Launch Ceremony' at its headquarters in Jongno-gu, Seoul. Key officials from SKC and participating organizations attended the event, including Choi Gap-ryong, Head of SKC ESG Promotion Division, Lee Seung-hwan, CEO of the youth education social cooperative Seed Corp, and Song Seong-ho, Secretary General of the Happy School Foundation.
My Green School is an elementary education program themed around the 'future generation' and 'environment,' linked to SKC's ESG management vision announced in June, 'ESG Solution Provider for the Next Generation.' It consists of two class sessions aligned with the regular curriculum. In the first session, students learn about the necessity of resource circulation and acquire waste separation methods through various content. The second session maximizes educational effectiveness through hands-on experiences using SKC's 'My Green Place' and educational tools such as card games.
Prior to the launch ceremony, SKC also completed the selection of 'My Green Teachers.' Volunteers from SKC's MZ generation and university students, selected through a competitive process with an 8:1 ratio, will conduct the My Green School program in 45 classes nationwide for about two months starting from the 25th of this month. They have completed training on environmental knowledge and teaching methods necessary for instructors from experts at participating organizations.
Kim Soo-min, a senior majoring in English Education at Korea University and selected as a My Green Teacher, said, "I have always had a deep interest in environmental issues, so I am delighted to have the opportunity to educate the younger generation. I will approach this with the mindset of contributing to the sustainability of our society."
Previously, SKC's 'My Green Place,' the nation's first game-based waste separation information platform launched in April last year, has recorded nearly 90,000 downloads. In the second half of last year, SKC implemented a pilot elementary education program called 'Dispatch! Waste Separation Hero' using My Green Place. My Green School strengthens existing educational content and secures expertise through instructor training with the participation of professional organizations.
