As the number of fishing participants in the hairtail fishing event in the Mokpo and Yeongam areas increases from the 21st of last month to December 10th, the Mokpo Maritime Police have established and are implementing special measures for fishing vessels from the 5th of this month to November 30th.
The Maritime Police are striving to create a safe maritime culture through “visiting fire prevention activities,” which involve daily safety inspections before fishing vessels depart, checking fire-prone areas such as engine room engine oil, wire insulation, and battery terminals at least once a day.
Chief Kim inspected safety management conditions at the hairtail fishing event sites around Mokpo South Port and Peace Square, which are among the ports and harbors where fishing vessels depart.
He also promoted safety rules such as prohibiting drinking on board and wearing life jackets to fishing vessel operators and passengers, working to proactively prevent marine accidents.
