The International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) Annual General Meeting Held in Suncheon

16 Countries Including Member States and Garden Expo Applicant Cities Attend

The Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo Organizing Committee (Chairman Nogwan-gyu, Mayor of Suncheon) announced that the ‘AIPH 75th Annual General Meeting’ with 75 participants from 16 countries will be held in Suncheon from the 15th to the 22nd.

Starting with the arrival of the Expo Garden Show judging panel on the 15th, the garden show judging will take place on the 16th, followed by the board meeting and welcome dinner on the 17th. From the 18th to the 20th, sector-specific conferences are scheduled. After completing a sustainable ecological city tour by the 21st, participants are expected to leave Suncheon on the 22nd.

The annual general meeting is the most important event held in a different city each year to discuss the association’s key agenda items and share the activities of its three committees with the world.

At the first committee, the Expo Conference, progress reports on expos from eight cities including Suncheon will be shared, and new expo hosting applications from four cities including Ulsan and Thailand will be processed. The second committee, the Horticultural Industry Conference, will feature six domestic and international speakers discussing topics such as the Korean Ornamental Horticulture Academic Conference and the environmental footprint of ornamental horticulture. The final committee, the Green City Conference, will have five speakers from home and abroad presenting on sustainable ecological cities.

An official from the organizing committee stated, “AIPH was founded in 1948 to rebuild a world devastated by World War II through the power of plants, and sustainability is currently its most important topic. We will widely promote the 2023 Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo, a significant example of this, to the world at this general meeting.”

Meanwhile, the 2023 Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo is setting new attendance records, nearing 80% of its target visitors, and is becoming a renowned destination visited by 300 local governments, institutions, and research centers nationwide to learn urban standards.
