Busan Office of Education Accelerates Support for Teachers Whose Educational Activities Were Disrupted
Busan Metropolitan Office of Education is stepping up efforts to protect teachers' rights by providing legal support and counseling to teachers whose educational activities have been infringed upon.
Since this month, the Legal Support Team of the Teacher Healing Center, which supports teachers affected by infringements on educational activities, has provided on-site support 24 times through legal assistance and consulting as of the 14th.
Established on the 1st, the Legal Support Team handles legal responses related to infringements on educational activities, counseling and treatment support for affected teachers, and direct responses to malicious complaints.
As of the 14th, the Legal Support Team has supported the field 24 times, including 5 cases of responding to malicious complaints, 7 cases of legal support, 10 consultations with the Teacher Rights Protection Committee, and 2 other cases. Among these, there were 8 legal consultations by lawyers and 6 on-site visits by the Legal Support Team.
In the case of A Elementary School, a lawyer is scheduled to accompany a teacher under police investigation for child abuse charges, and for B Elementary School, a lawyer has been appointed to support responses to about 20 indiscriminate teacher lawsuits.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education is not only operating the Legal Support Team to protect teachers' legitimate educational activities but also focusing on strengthening the capabilities of school principals.
On the 8th, a 'Teacher Rights Protector Briefing' was held with about 300 attendees, including elementary school principals and education professionals, and an additional session will be held on the 15th at 4 p.m. for about 340 principals of middle, high, and special schools.
