'Jeju Golf Big League' September Tournament: Player Lee Jeonghee Wins with 75 Strokes

Lee Jeong-hee (55, female) stood tall as the ultimate champion of the ‘Jeju Golf Big League,’ which determines the strongest mid-amateur golfer in the Jeju region.

The Jeju Golf Big League is a tournament sponsored by the Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, where mid-amateur golf experts in the Jeju area compete monthly to determine the best golfer in the region.

In this tournament held at Aden Hill CC, Lee Jeong-hee recorded a score of 75 strokes and claimed the championship. Aden Hill CC is known in the Jeju region as a highly challenging course famous for its green illusions and difficult course strategy.

Having won on such a difficult golf course, Lee is well known as the top female amateur golfer in Jeju Island.

She stated, “There are no tournaments where amateur golfers can compete fairly under accurate official rules, so although this is a small tournament, I am happy to have won through fair competition based on precise rules, which many people can sympathize with and acknowledge.”

Lee was unable to attend the first Jeju Golf Big League tournament last month because she was using an unapproved driver, but she practiced intensely for a month using her husband’s driver club and then participated in the tournament.

Regarding Lee Jeong-hee’s victory, the participants unanimously agreed that her achieving good results with a male club despite her small stature exemplifies the proverb “A skilled calligrapher does not blame the brush,” and they vowed to refine their skills and seek revenge in the October tournament.

A representative of the Jeju Golf Big League organizers said, “Almost all recreational sports are conducted according to official regulations and rules, and golf, which can be called the most gentlemanly sport among sports, aims to improve the golf culture where rules and regulations are not followed,” adding, “We ask many golf experts in Jeju to participate and join the new culture of golf.”
