Mokpo Coast Guard Implements Special Marine Safety Measures for Chuseok Holiday
Mokpo Maritime Police Station (Chief Kim Hae-cheol) announced on the 14th that it will implement special marine safety management measures to prevent marine and coastal accidents so that the public can safely enjoy the Chuseok holiday.
The Maritime Police plan to maintain an emergency response posture for six days from the 28th, when the main holiday period begins, until the 3rd of next month, following an on-site inspection period from the 12th to the 27th.
Over the past three years, the number of passengers using multi-use vessels such as ferries, oil and passenger ferries, and fishing boats during the Chuseok holiday has gradually increased due to the easing of COVID-19 quarantine rules.
In particular, this year, the holiday period is longer than usual, and the demand for multi-use vessels is expected to increase. To prevent accidents, on-site inspections of multi-use vessel business sites and special inspections of passenger ships will be conducted in cooperation with the Korea Maritime Safety Authority (KOMSA).
Additionally, during the Chuseok holiday, the deployment of increased patrol vessels will strengthen safety management of multi-use vessels such as ferries, and comprehensive efforts will be made to enhance marine safety management, including strengthening criminal activities to prevent safety and livelihood-related crimes before and after Chuseok.
