Ahead of the Chuseok holiday, hygiene compliance inspections and guidance were also conducted at 20 locations including rice cake shops, ancestral rite food preparation and sales businesses, and large distribution and sales outlets.
Tests for harmful substances such as heavy metals, preservatives, and E. coli on 12 frequently consumed ritual foods including processed foods and seafood all received suitable ratings.
Seo-gu plans to conduct radiation collection and testing on seafood distributed at large marts on the 19th.
Additionally, inspections will be carried out concurrently on 107 health functional food sales businesses, which are often purchased as holiday gifts, and based on the inspection results, administrative actions and continuous management will be implemented to ensure the safety of Chuseok peak season food distribution.
Lee Sang-yong, head of the Seo-gu Health and Hygiene Division, stated, “We will strengthen radiation inspections and checks to the fullest extent to create a food environment where residents can consume with peace of mind.”
