Changwon Special City Issues 2 Billion KRW Worth of Nationwide First Mobile Gift Certificates Dedicated to Seafood
15% Discount Benefit, Usable at Local Traditional Market Seafood Industry
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam is the first in the nation to issue a mobile gift certificate exclusively for seafood consumption promotion.
The city plans to issue 2 billion KRW worth of seafood-only mobile gift certificates in two rounds at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on the 13th, as there are concerns that seafood small business owners will suffer significant damage ahead of Chuseok due to the discharge of contaminated water from Fukushima, Japan.
Excluding those issued by the government, this is the first proactive response by a local government, and the city views this Chuseok as an important barometer for the rapid recovery of the local commercial district in the second half of the year, putting all efforts into it.
The mobile gift certificates are available in four denominations: 5,000 KRW, 10,000 KRW, 50,000 KRW, and 200,000 KRW. These certificates can be purchased through applications such as the Beeple Zero Pay app, with a 15% discount automatically applied at the time of purchase.
The 200,000 KRW certificate can be purchased for 170,000 KRW, the 50,000 KRW certificate for 42,500 KRW, and the 10,000 KRW certificate for 8,500 KRW, with a maximum purchase limit of 200,000 KRW per individual.
These certificates can be used at 497 seafood businesses within 29 traditional markets in the city. Detailed usage locations can be found on the city’s website under the City News Notification Board’s Latest News section, and small business owners wishing to become new seafood franchisees can apply through the Zero Pay customer center.
