Facility Improvement of Pungnap Badminton Court in Songpa-gu
Complete Replacement of Masato, Installation of Ventilation System, and Digital Scoreboard
Songpa-gu (District Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced on the 7th that it has improved the aging facilities of the 'Pungnap Badminton Court,' a major communication space used by residents of Pungnap-dong.
The Pungnap Badminton Court is a district-run sports facility established in 1995, consisting of four badminton courts and one simple rest area on a site of 2,462㎡. It is a meaningful facility for Pungnap-dong residents, who have relatively few cultural and leisure facilities due to cultural heritage protection regulations, serving not only as a place for sports activities but also as a communication space.
However, the facility had become old, with uneven flooring posing injury risks, and noise and dust entering through gaps in the exterior walls, creating an uncomfortable environment and causing inconvenience to residents.
In response, the district secured additional supplementary budget in the second half of last year and carried out about two months of construction starting in June to significantly improve the environment.
Prioritizing the safety of users, the district completely replaced the worn-out crushed soil floor and reinforced the gaps in the exterior walls. Additionally, ventilation systems were installed on the left and right sides, court line belts were replaced, a digital scoreboard operable by remote control was installed, and old LED lights were replaced, allowing residents to enjoy sports activities regardless of weather or time.
The facility improvements have also increased residents' satisfaction with the administration. One resident sent a text message directly to the district mayor’s dedicated text number, expressing gratitude for listening to the voices of the citizens and improving the badminton court facilities. A member of a local badminton club also expressed thanks, saying, "I am grateful to be able to play games with peace of mind in a safer environment."
The district plans to continue improving the environment by repairing and maintaining aging facilities and expanding convenience facilities to ensure residents have no inconvenience when using public sports facilities.
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “Going forward, Songpa-gu will actively support residents to enjoy various sports activities anytime and lead a healthy leisure life, aiming to be a ‘City of Life Sports.’”
