Promising startups that overcame a 40-to-1 competition ratio participated, such as "Zcrypto," which possesses blockchain system technology that can fundamentally block fraudulent voting; "Vasgen Bio," which developed a new drug development platform based on genomic data; and "Netspa," which has technology to extract high-purity recycled raw materials from discarded fishing nets.
This year, nine startups directly discovered and nurtured by LG shared their collaboration achievements with LG over the past year. Key examples include "Ujura Company," developing solutions to predict diseases in companion dogs and cats based on animal behavior data; "WeMeet Mobility," providing AI solutions related to optimal logistics dispatch and routing; and "Mesa Planet," which has technology to analyze satellite imagery. Additionally, speakers included An Ikjin, CEO of "Moloco," a machine learning-based advertising solution startup and the first Korean unicorn startup in Silicon Valley preparing for a Nasdaq listing next year; Kim Dongsoo, CEO of LG Technology Ventures, LG’s corporate venture capital located in Silicon Valley; and Richard Kim, managing partner of "Galaxy Interactive," a US blockchain and gaming-focused investment firm, who shared know-how on global expansion and investment trends for startups.
Meanwhile, the group-level open innovation platform "Superstart," launched as part of efforts to discover and support startups and prepare for the future, not only holds Superstart Day annually but also strengthens practical support such as providing dedicated workspaces, operating employee advisory groups in legal, marketing, purchasing, and finance, and supporting everything from idea development to business verification (PoC) in collaboration with LG. So far, Superstart Day has attracted over 260 startups from 26 countries, with nearly 20,000 participants.
