Seoul Subway Line 5 Omokgyo Station Passes Without Stopping for 30 Minutes Due to Smoke
At around 2:48 PM on the 5th, smoke was detected at Omokgyo Station in Mokdong, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, causing Line 5 subway trains to pass through without stopping for about 30 minutes.
According to Seoul Metro, a fire broke out in the ventilation room on the 2nd basement floor of Omokgyo Station, and smoke spread to the platform on the 3rd basement floor. Starting at around 2:50 PM, the metro operated trains in both directions without stopping to clear the smoke.
Fire authorities arrived and extinguished the smoke by 3:10 PM, and Line 5 trains resumed normal operation from 3:21 PM. There were no casualties, and seven passengers on the platform evacuated safely.

The metro and fire authorities believe the fire started in a transformer and are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
