With National Trainer Kang Hyung-wook... Dongmyeong University Hosts Companion Animal Culture Festival
Busan Dongmyeong University, which established the nation's first dedicated College of Companion Animals, will hold the 1st Dongmyeong University Companion Animal Culture Festival on campus on the 8th.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will feature a variety of programs including ▲a special lecture and talk show with dog trainer Kang Hyeong-wook, known as the "Dog President" ▲admission fair ▲learning fair (experience zone) ▲promotion zone ▲and various participatory side events.
Trainer Kang Hyeong-wook will give a special lecture on pet etiquette at 2 p.m. in the main auditorium of the Central Library, followed by a talk show with President Jeon Ho-hwan and others.
At the admission fair, there will be ▲career and admission counseling for companion animal-related fields ▲an information session on the College of Companion Animals, while the learning fair will offer ▲companion animal hygiene and grooming experiences ▲making companion animal snacks and supplies ▲and an aroma hand sanitizer making experience.
In the promotion zone, events such as ▲the Nam-gu District Office of Busan City’s Love for Companions Campaign ▲companion dog safety net campaign ▲instant photo contest for companion dogs will be held. Participatory side events include ▲a unique companion animal photo zone ▲the Yeongnam region’s top companion dog training demonstration ▲companion animal "Stay" contest ▲and companion dog running (agility) competitions.
As a special event, an AI companion dog graphic design exhibition featuring 20 works by Dr. Wang Min-hye, who earned her doctorate at Dongmyeong University, will also be held.
Jo Jae-hyung, head of the Companion Animal Education and Culture Center at Dongmyeong University’s College of Companion Animals, said, “Various programs such as special demonstrations of service dogs by trainer Park Soon-tae, an on-site registration companion dog running competition for Nam-gu residents, and the Pretty Doggy Photo Contest hosted by the Animal Love Practice Association will be held, so we encourage many to participate.”

Following the establishment of a university animal hospital on campus and the nation’s first dedicated College of Companion Animals, Dongmyeong University was recently selected as the final winner in a public contest supporting the creation of companion dog playgrounds in autonomous districts and counties. By December, a 1,561㎡ companion animal playground and convenience facilities will be constructed on the Dongmyeong University campus.
