Capture the 'Hwanggeum Yeonhyu' Market... TMON and WEMAKEPRICE Buzzing
Increase in Travel Sales After Temporary Holiday Designation
Targeting Chuseok Gift Market Based on Logistics Competitiveness
E-commerce companies are accelerating their moves to capture the 'golden holiday' market spanning from the Chuseok holiday to National Foundation Day. By taking just three days off, the holiday period extends to 12 days until Hangeul Day, leading to a significant increase in travel product sales. TMON, WEMAKEPRICE, and others plan to speed up their strategies to target the Chuseok gift market this year, leveraging enhanced logistics competitiveness.
TMON announced on the 6th that travel sales surged due to the designation of October 2nd as a temporary holiday. On the 31st of last month, when the temporary holiday was announced, TMON's domestic travel sales increased by 133% in activities and leisure, 56% in pensions, camping, and guesthouses, and 46% in theme parks compared to the previous day. During the same period, Jeju travel sales showed growth of 69% in pensions and guesthouses, 61% in hotels, and 48% in rental cars.
WEMAKEPRICE also saw a significant rise in customer demand for travel products. From August 25th to 31st, overseas package travel product sales increased by 59% compared to the previous month. Sales even exceeded those during the vacation period. Compared to the same period last year, international flight tickets and package product sales rose more than tenfold. With the designation of the temporary holiday, more people are preparing for travel, prompting TMON and WEMAKEPRICE to respond with various promotional events. A TMON representative explained, "Ahead of the longest 12-day golden holiday, we are conducting diverse events such as opening exclusive promotions to target travel demand," adding, "We are also curating domestic and international products available for departure and use during the holiday separately."
TMON, WEMAKEPRICE, and others are also hastening preparations to capture the Chuseok gift market at the start of the holiday period, not just travel products. Although holiday gift promotions are held annually, what sets this year apart is the strengthened logistics competitiveness. After being acquired by Qoo10, TMON and WEMAKEPRICE collaborated with the logistics subsidiary Qxpress to launch an integrated fulfillment service this year. Named 'T Prime' at TMON and 'W Prime' at WEMAKEPRICE, this service comprehensively supports delivery, product storage, and inventory management, utilizing 19 logistics hubs across 11 countries where Qxpress operates to provide one-stop domestic and international delivery. This enables next-day delivery domestically and five-day delivery for overseas products.

As partners and products using this service increase, transaction volumes are rapidly growing. For TMON's T Prime, transaction volume in August was 18.4 times higher than in April this year. WEMAKEPRICE's W Prime saw a 19-fold increase in transaction volume in July compared to April. Both companies expect related transactions to increase even more significantly once holiday gift purchases begin.
