Ulsan Mayor Kim Du-gyeom's Overseas Business Trip Including 'Tram Inspection' with Foreign Delegation

Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom will lead an overseas delegation on September 6th for his second overseas business trip during the 8th term of the local government.
This overseas trip was arranged to observe the operation status of trams in advanced countries following the recent confirmation of the Ulsan Urban Railway Line 1 construction project, and to benchmark efforts such as attracting the International Garden Expo and establishing floating offshore wind power.
The overseas delegation will visit four cities in three countries?Mannheim and Berlin in Germany, Viana do Castelo in Portugal, and Warsaw in Poland?from September 6th to September 15th (8 nights and 10 days).
However, Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom will return early on September 13th due to official schedule conflicts and will not attend the Warsaw, Poland itinerary.
The main schedule begins on September 7th with a visit to the German Federal Garden Expo site held from April 14th to October 8th in Mannheim, an industrial city on the Rhine River, to discuss exchanges for attracting and promoting the 2028 Ulsan International Garden Expo.
Next, on September 8th and 9th, the delegation will visit the Berlin Transport Company (BVG), touring the vehicle depot and control center to closely examine tram operation and management conditions as well as construction sites, and discuss rail-centered transportation policies.
On September 11th, they will visit the WindFloat Atlantic offshore wind farm located in Viana do Castelo, Portugal, to discuss the project and cooperation plans, and sign a letter of intent for investment with OceanWinds.
OceanWinds: A global offshore wind energy specialist company developing projects totaling 4GW worldwide, a joint venture between ENGIE and EDPR.
The final schedule on the 13th includes a visit to ‘TW (Tramwaje Warszawskie)’, the tram operator in Warsaw, Poland.
They will explain the key details of the Ulsan Urban Railway Line 1 construction project, which is the world’s first to introduce hydrogen electric trams, and establish cooperation plans regarding tram operation and management systems, expertise and know-how, and driving technology.

Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom said, “As my usual philosophy is that ‘the answer lies in the field,’ I will do my best through this overseas trip to ensure the successful promotion of the Ulsan Urban Railway Line 1 construction project, the attraction of the International Garden Expo, and the establishment of renewable energy.” He added, “In particular, through the introduction of hydrogen electric trams, an eco-friendly transportation means, Ulsan will be able to become a global leading city in the rail-centered public transportation sector.”
