Busan City to Host the Largest Ever '2023 K-ICT WEEK in BUSAN'
September 6-8 at BEXCO, Held on the Largest Scale Ever with 267 Companies and 595 Booths
Sharing Latest ICT Trends and Expanding Regional ICT Industry Market
Busan City showcases its capabilities as a candidate city for the ‘2030 World Expo’ to domestic and international information and communication technology (ICT) experts by hosting Korea’s representative comprehensive ICT exhibition event.
The city will hold the ‘2023 K-ICT WEEK in BUSAN’ at the BEXCO Exhibition Hall 1 from September 6 to 8, spanning three days, in its largest scale ever.
Now in its 9th year, ‘K-ICT WEEK in BUSAN’ is the largest comprehensive ICT exhibition convention in the Yeongnam region and a leading domestic event.
It serves as a platform for domestic and international ICT experts to share the latest trends in technologies such as artificial intelligence, metaverse, cloud, and quantum information technology, and to expand the regional ICT industry market through new business opportunities.
This event integrates three exhibitions: ‘AI Korea,’ ‘IT Expo Busan,’ and ‘Cloud Expo Korea.’
Especially this year, ‘K-ICT WEEK in BUSAN’ will focus on the theme of ‘ICT Business Leading Digital Transformation,’ showcasing the latest technologies and products from various ICT companies, as well as providing a comprehensive view of ICT convergence and integration opportunities with key industries such as manufacturing, maritime, finance, and logistics.
The event features a comprehensive ICT exhibition with a record participation of 267 domestic and international companies occupying 595 booths, including Megazone Cloud, Douzone Bizon, Etiverse, and Sharpen Goat; an AI conference themed ‘AI for the Future’; a cloud conference themed ‘Digital Transformation’; buyer consultations (30 domestic and 50 international buyers) and corporate investment consultations (IR Demo Day); a presentation on promising AI manufacturing commercialization technologies by the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI); a quantum information technology workshop; a promotional booth for the Busan Digital Innovation Academy (BDIA) job fair; and various technical and product presentations by participating companies.
Notably, on the first day (September 6) of the AI conference, the ‘AI Friends’ academic society, active mainly in the Daedeok Research Complex, will hold presentations and discussions on ‘Generative AI (ChatGPT).’ On the second day (September 7), the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute and the University of Waterloo in Canada will introduce and consult on promising commercialization technologies in the manufacturing AI sector. On the third day (September 8), IBM Quantum will host a quantum information technology business briefing titled ‘Quantum Computer Developer Certification Education Briefing,’ providing information on IBM Quantum’s educational programs and support.
Additionally, among the exhibition booths, the ‘Extended Reality (XR) & Metaverse Joint Pavilion’ will feature an experience zone by augmented reality specialist ‘Two Hands Interactive’ and a metaverse event booth linked with metaverse specialist ‘WIDIT,’ allowing citizens to directly experience the latest technologies.

View original imageFor this year’s event, the city expanded the number of participating companies and booths, invited more domestic and international buyers, strengthened the conference program, and newly organized quantum information technology booths and business briefings. With these efforts, the city expects the event to become a special venue where innovative technologies converge and generate tangible business outcomes for participating companies both domestically and internationally.
The opening ceremony of the event will be held at 2 p.m. on September 6, with attendance by Mayor Park Hyung-jun, the Secretary-General of the Korea-ASEAN Center, the President of the Busan Information Technology Association, the Chair of the Busan IT Dean’s Council, the CEO of Douzone Bizon, and about ten other dignitaries to celebrate the opening.

Mayor Park Hyung-jun stated, “Through the three-day ‘2023 K-ICT WEEK in BUSAN,’ we will fully demonstrate our city’s excellent ICT foundation and future direction.” He added, “This will allow domestic and international participants to properly recognize Busan’s capabilities as a candidate city for the 2030 World Expo.” He further said, “We will develop this event into Korea’s definitive ‘K-Exhibition’ reflecting global technology trends and use it as a stepping stone to leap forward as the ‘Digital Innovation City Busan.’”
