Telecom 3 Companies and NIA Launch 'Digital ESG Council'
Formation of ESG Department-Centered Council
"We Will Strive to Realize Digital ESG Value"
LG Uplus announced on the 5th that it held the launch ceremony of the ‘Digital ESG Council’ at the Korea Press Center in collaboration with the National Information Society Agency (NIA). This council was established to share awareness among major digital companies for a sustainable future and to mutually cooperate on digital ESG activities.
The council is composed mainly of ESG departments from telecommunications companies and global IT firms such as LG Uplus, SK Telecom, KT, NHN, and Microsoft Korea. The council plans to take the lead in spreading digital-based ESG activities domestically through ▲ sharing and discussing digital ESG issues ▲ discovering digital ESG policy tasks ▲ identifying and promoting digital ESG cooperative activities ▲ fostering a digital ESG ecosystem and strengthening public awareness.

Through the formation of this council, LG Uplus expects to actively discover items to be applied to various social contribution projects currently underway for socially vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities and children. Lee Cheol-hoon, Head of External Strategy Group (Executive Vice President) at LG Uplus, said, “With the launch of the council, LG Uplus will be able to utilize NIA’s resources more efficiently,” adding, “We will actively cooperate with the participating companies to realize the value of digital ESG.”
