Haman-gun Holds '100-Person Debate' for Local Community Youth Participation Activities
Establishing Career Experience Programs for Youth
Haman-gun, Gyeongnam held a youth policy '100-Person Debate' at the auditorium of Ara Elementary School in Gaya-eup to guarantee youth participation activities and foster growth as responsible democratic citizens.
The debate, held on the 2nd, was organized by the Haman-gun Youth Training Center and attended by Lee Young-hak, Director of the Welfare and Environment Bureau of the county, as well as principals of middle and high schools in the county and about 130 youths.

The youths conducted a preliminary survey on inconveniences and areas for improvement in daily life in Haman-gun and selected a total of four preliminary policy agendas, including ▲ creating youth-only spaces ▲ guaranteeing youth mobility rights ▲ establishing career experience programs for youth. Based on this, they gave group presentations followed by a lively discussion session.
Based on the results from this debate, the youths plan to proceed with policy proposal activities such as submitting proposals for the resident participation budget after a process of gathering opinions.
Director Lee said, “I hope this debate provided an opportunity for youths to feel their role as members of the local community,” adding, “We will continue to listen to youths’ opinions and strive to create policies that reflect them.”

Meanwhile, this debate was conducted with national funding after Haman-gun was selected in the '2023 Regional Community Youth Participation Activity Activation Project' contest hosted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and organized by the Korea Youth Activity Promotion Agency. Over the next three years, various projects will be carried out to support youth participation activities guaranteed by the Youth Basic Act.
