This MOU was signed to expand the 'Sanhaejinmi' activities. Sanhaejinmi is SK Innovation's plogging campaign, which involves jogging while picking up trash. The name means protecting the mountains (山) and the sea (海) to create a truly (眞) beautiful (美) Earth. It started in 2021 as a volunteer activity among SK Innovation affiliates and is now in its third year.
SK Innovation plans to implement the Sanhaejinmi campaign nationwide by utilizing the infrastructure and networks held by the five organizations across the country and will also strive to raise public awareness of eco-friendly practices.
SK Innovation recognizes the Sanhaejinmi campaign as an ESG activity that shares the value of environmental protection and has expanded it into a nationwide movement. In 2022 alone, 278,498 people participated in the Sanhaejinmi campaign, collecting approximately 1,195 tons of trash, achieving significant environmental results. After the signing ceremony, representatives from the five organizations carried out Sanhaejinmi activities around the Jeongneung Nature Observation Trail within Bukhansan National Park, reaffirming their commitment.
Lim, the head of the center, said, “I hope this agreement will expand opportunities for more citizens to participate,” adding, “SK Innovation will continue to lead the creation of environmental value through cooperation with various organizations to not only spread eco-friendly culture but also enhance environmental awareness nationwide.”
