Seocho-gu Takes Action to Protect Residents from Indiscriminate Crimes
Starting This Month, 'Forest Path Security Guard' Patrols Monitor Various Areas of Umyunsan Trails... Additional CCTV Installed on Hiking Trails, Parks, and Riverside... AI-Based 'Intelligent CCTV' Automatically Detects Abnormal Behavior, with Plans to Expand by 100 Units Annually
Seocho-gu (District Mayor Jeon Seong-su) has recently heightened vigilance and strengthened measures amid a series of indiscriminate crimes occurring without specific targets.
The district has started operating the "Forest Path Security Patrol" this month, which monitors various spots along walking and hiking trails such as Umyeonsan Mountain. The "Forest Path Security Patrol" consists of 10 members working in pairs across 5 teams, patrolling meticulously from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily in forests and hiking trails to detect any signs of crime. Additionally, the district plans to install more CCTV cameras for crime prevention in parks, hiking trails, and riversides.
Furthermore, the district is promoting ▲expansion of intelligent CCTV that detects abnormal behavior ▲support for the Women’s Safe Return Firefly program ▲installation support for security facilities for single-person households (Seoripul Bodyguard) ▲strengthening patrols in high-crime areas by Seoripul Guardian Angels and the Autonomous Crime Prevention Corps.
In particular, the district is implementing smart measures for resident safety. Utilizing 100 intelligent CCTVs in safety-vulnerable areas such as walking trails, hiking trail entrances, and densely populated residential areas, it has established an "Intelligent Selective Surveillance System" that detects abnormal behavior and displays it on the control center screens.
Moreover, the district plans to enhance the system by installing an additional 100 intelligent CCTVs annually until 2026.
Alongside this, it is promoting the construction of a "High-Speed Search System" based on AI video analysis to search for the facial features and clothing of missing persons and crime suspects, tracking their locations and movement paths.
For vulnerable groups such as women, the district is strengthening the Women’s Safe Return Firefly (Safe Return Scout) activities, accompanying them on their way home and monitoring their return via the Anshim (Safety) app. Currently, 50 Firefly members are active in the district, and self-defense practical training will be conducted to ensure their safety.
Additionally, the district plans to recruit new Seoripul Guardian Angels who patrol the area and increase patrol frequency by the Autonomous Crime Prevention Corps to prevent crimes in high-risk areas.
For single-person households, the district is promoting the "Seoripul Bodyguard" project, which supports home security systems, digital videophones, and door safety chains.
To this end, on the 25th of last month, a meeting was held chaired by the Deputy District Mayor, with heads of departments related to resident safety participating to discuss measures to prevent indiscriminate crimes.
