[Yang Nak-gyu's Defence photo] ROK-US Ground Forces Combined Training
The Army's 2nd Rapid Response Division conducted large-scale combined Republic of Korea-U.S. joint air assault operations and day-and-night ground attack operations, along with outdoor maneuver training, in the Jangseong area of Jeollanam-do.
The training involved over 1,700 personnel from the ROK-U.S. Combined Division's Stryker Brigade, the Army Aviation Command, and others. A total of about 40 aircraft, including Chinook (CH-47), Black Hawk (UH-60), Apache (AH-64E) attack helicopters, and Air Force transport aircraft (C-130H, CN-235), were deployed. Approximately 600 troops from both countries, including one platoon from the U.S. Stryker Brigade, were organized into a special mission unit integrated with the air assault ground forces and the Army aviation units.
They rapidly deployed to the operational area aboard more than 40 combined air assets and successfully secured the objective points. The troops also honed their combat skills through realistic training such as joint air assault operations, day-and-night ground attack operations, and artillery firing exercises.
