Suncheon-si Expands Public Data Opening

Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Nogwan-gyu) announced that it will open additional new public data to increase citizens' utilization of public data generated throughout administration and to implement a digital platform administration and improve citizen services.

Public data refers to all materials or information produced by public institutions. By opening public data, companies can develop new services and products to enhance their competitiveness, and administrative agencies can promote data-driven scientific administration.

The public data opened by the city includes 9 items such as the recently opened 'Suncheon City Electric Vehicle Charging Station Status,' and a total of 229 items including ▲public facilities (senior citizen centers, urban parks, etc.) ▲disaster safety (civil defense shelters, women's safety delivery boxes, etc.) ▲transportation (bus route information, real-time traffic information, etc.) ▲environment (air emission facility status, electric vehicle charging station status, etc.) ▲culture (cultural heritage status, tourist status, etc.) ▲housing (apartment complex status, etc.) ▲others (general restaurants, hospital and pharmacy information, etc.), which are open on the city website and the public data portal.

The city is strengthening citizens' data usage rights and innovating work methods based on data by striving to discover additional public data, while also conducting data quality management education for employees and promoting periodic data updates.

In addition, the city plans to build an integrated data platform that gathers public data and big data analysis results scattered across various locations into one place for easy access by anyone, and to expand the opening of data from public institutions and private sectors.

A representative from the Suncheon City Digital Policy Division said, "Opening public data increases administrative transparency and enhances citizens' right to know," adding, "We will make further efforts to enable citizens to share and utilize public data more easily and conveniently."
