POSCO Cheongam Foundation Awards Certificates to Vision Scholarship and Asia Korean Study Abroad Scholarship Recipients
Award Ceremony and Workshop Held at Baegunsan Training Center
47 Vision Scholarship Recipients, 17 Asia Korean Studies Scholarship Recipients
POSCO Cheongam Foundation (Chairman Kim Seon-wook) awarded scholarship certificates to 47 newly selected POSCO Vision Scholars and 17 Asia Korean Studies Scholars at the POSCO Baegunsan Training Center in Gwangyang on the 29th, followed by a 1-night, 2-day workshop.
To promote global exchange among domestic and international scholars, the foundation held its first joint certificate awarding ceremony for Asia Korean Studies Scholars and POSCO Vision Scholars since its establishment.
In particular, prior to the certificate awarding ceremony, the scholars participated in the "Global Citizenship Dialogue Climate Change Talk Concert," co-hosted by POSCO Cheongam Foundation and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation of Germany, where they shared their opinions with experts on global climate change issues.
The POSCO Vision Scholarship is a regional scholarship program that supports university students from the Gwangyang and Pohang areas who, despite difficult circumstances, maintain hope and vision and focus on their studies to grow into outstanding members of society. It provides tuition assistance until graduation and has supported a total of 586 students since 2006.
The Asia Korean Studies Scholarship is an overseas scholarship program that invites young talents from Asia to Korea, supports their master's and doctoral studies at prestigious domestic graduate schools, and offers opportunities to experience Korean society, economy, and culture. Since its inception in 2005, it has produced 515 scholars from 33 countries, nurturing the next generation of global leaders who understand Korea.
In his welcoming speech, Kim Seon-wook, Chairman of POSCO Cheongam Foundation, said, "Starting with today's integrated certificate awarding ceremony, we hope that POSCO Cheongam Foundation scholars from all over the world will continuously interact, learn each other's cultures, and serve as role models for one another. Especially seeing Asian talents who have come all the way to Korea with dreams and the determination to achieve them, I hope our Vision Scholars also dream of showcasing their talents and capabilities on the global stage."
In addition to providing scholarships to selected scholars, the Cheongam Foundation is strengthening networking activities and growth support among scholars through programs such as the "Global Exploration Program," which supports overseas experiences during vacation periods; the "Mentoring Program," which assists scholars with career planning and employment; and the "Korean Culture Experience Program," which supports Asian international students in gaining diverse experiences in Korea.
