Yongsan District Mayor Park Hee-young Communicates with Residents... "I Will Listen First"
Yongsan-gu, 1st On-site Communication in Dong 'We Will Listen First'... Until September 7, About 10 Residents per 16 Dongs Visit the Mayor's Office
Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Park Hee-young) will continue the first round of on-site neighborhood communication, "We Will Listen First," starting from Huam-dong on the 29th until September 7th.
On the morning of the 29th, Um Tae-seop, chairman of the Yangjimal Senior Citizens' Center in Huam-dong, expressed gratitude by saying, "The construction to lower the threshold of the grandmother's room restroom is about to be completed," and added, "The grandmothers are very pleased," before beginning to convey suggestions.
"We Will Listen First" is held in the district mayor's office. About 10 residents from each of the 16 neighborhoods attend one neighborhood session in the morning or afternoon, discussing local issues for 90 minutes.
The schedule is as follows: ▲ Huam and Yongsan 2-ga (August 29) ▲ Namyeong and Cheongpa (August 30) ▲ Wonhyo-ro 2 and Yongmun (August 31) ▲ Hyochang and Ichon 1 (September 1) ▲ Ichon 2 and Itaewon 1 (September 4) ▲ Wonhyo-ro 1 and Itaewon 2 (September 5) ▲ Seobinggo and Hannam (September 6) ▲ Hangang-ro and Bogwang (September 7).
The first round of on-site neighborhood communication proceeds with introductions of attending residents, reports on neighborhood issues, listening to prior suggestions, responses, free conversation, and commemorative photos. The neighborhood chief reports on local issues, and Mayor Park provides answers to the suggestions.
A district official explained, "We prepared this opportunity to share issues with residents and to ensure that on-site opinions can be reflected in district administration," adding, "Residents will be able to freely converse with the district mayor and discuss local administrative issues together."
Before the first round of neighborhood communication, the district received a total of 146 suggestions from the 16 neighborhoods last month. The main topics included ▲ alleviating parking difficulties ▲ installing dedicated cigarette butt disposal bins ▲ facility improvements ▲ road maintenance ▲ expansion of knife sharpening services, among others.
Suggestions that could be addressed immediately have been acted upon, while those requiring budget allocation or regulation amendments were reviewed by the responsible departments.
Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, emphasized, "Before visiting the neighborhoods, we intend to thoroughly review the issues and engage in deep conversations," adding, "The second round of communication will focus on reviewing the suggestions from the first round and the progress of this year's projects on-site, as well as assessing resident satisfaction."
