Suncheon-si Holds On-site Resident Briefing for Resource Recovery Facility

Engaging in Communication on the Necessity and Progress of Public Resource Facilities

Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced that since the 7th, it has been actively promoting the "On-site Resident Briefing Sessions" to share accurate information about the "Suncheon City Next-Generation Public Resource Facilities" with citizens and to help foster a proper understanding.

The "On-site Resident Briefing Sessions" have been held to communicate with citizens, starting with villages near the optimal candidate sites and related institutions such as administrative welfare centers. These sessions explain the background, necessity, and progress of the public resource facilities project, and provide a time for citizens to freely ask and answer questions, especially regarding environmental pollution issues, which are of greatest concern to them.

The city plans to communicate more actively with citizens through briefings and campaigns, resolving misunderstandings and questions about the facilities to help residents make informed decisions. In the future, the city will visit not only public institutions such as elementary, middle, and high schools and fire stations where briefings are scheduled, but also any organizations or institutions that request a briefing to explain and gather opinions.

A Suncheon city official stated, "We consider this the last golden time to promote waste treatment facilities by 2030," adding, "Waste treatment is not just an administrative issue but a livelihood task that all 280,000 Suncheon citizens must work together to solve. We hope that the 'On-site Resident Briefing Sessions' will gather the wise insights of our citizens."

Meanwhile, citizens interested in the "Feasibility Study Process for Candidate Sites of Suncheon City Waste Treatment Facilities" can review related documents at the Haeryong-myeon, Deokyeon-dong, and Dosa-dong Administrative Welfare Centers, as well as the Cleaning Resources Division. Submission of opinions is possible from the 29th of this month until the 13th of next month.
