Damyang-gun Accelerates Efforts to Secure National Funds for Local Issue Resolution
Visiting the National Assembly to Explain the Necessity of Current Projects for Inclusion in the 2024 National Budget
On the 17th, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do visited the National Assembly to request national funding support for key projects driving regional development, and announced on the 21st that it has launched efforts to secure national funds.
Governor Lee Byeong-no visited the National Assembly ahead of the review of the next year's government budget proposal, meeting with Seo Sam-seok, the chairman of the Budget and Accounts Committee, as well as lawmakers Jo Eung-cheon, Lee Hyeong-seok, and Min Hyeong-bae, explaining the necessity of advancing current projects to reflect the 2024 national budget.
The main proposed projects include ▲ Establishment of a regionally specialized rental-type smart farm ▲ Improvement of hazardous roads in Wolgye District, Yong-myeon, along National Road No. 29 ▲ Construction of the Damyang International Meditation Center ▲ Samman District rural spatial maintenance project ▲ Daejeon-myeon urban regeneration project ▲ Upgrading of inflow facilities at the public sewage treatment plant.
Governor Lee Byeong-no stated, “Securing resources to enhance regional competitiveness is more important than anything else amid difficult local financial conditions,” adding, “We will continue to actively pursue national budget allocations to resolve local issues and promote regional development.”

Meanwhile, the government budget proposal will be finally submitted to the National Assembly in September after sectoral reviews by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Cabinet meeting, and the submitted proposal is expected to be finalized in early December after passing through the National Assembly’s standing committees and the Budget and Accounts Special Committee.
