"Threatening to Blow Up High-Speed Rail Facilities" Terror Threat Email from Japan... Police Strengthen Search and Security Measures
A terror threat email claiming to have planted a bomb on high-speed rail facilities was sent, prompting the police and other authorities to conduct urgent searches at major stations nationwide and enter a heightened alert status.
According to the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency, at 7:26 a.m. on the 17th, an email threatening "a bomb has been planted on high-speed rail facilities" was received via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs email.
The email, presumed to have been sent from Japan, reportedly contained threatening language stating, "A bomb has been planted on high-speed rail facilities. It will explode at 3:34 p.m. on August 17."
Since the email did not mention any specific location, the Geumcheon Police Station in Seoul requested cooperative investigations from police nationwide after receiving the report.
