Gurye-gun and Kakao Mobility Sign Agreement for Shared Bicycle Operation Management
Operation of 200 Shared Bicycles to Begin This September
On the 16th, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do, signed a business agreement with Kakao Mobility Corp. to operate shared bicycles as an eco-friendly public transportation option.
The signing ceremony was attended by key officials including Kim Soon-ho, the governor of Gurye-gun, and Hwang Tae-seon, director of Kakao Mobility.
Through this agreement, Gurye-gun and Kakao Mobility plan to provide the Kakao T Bike service starting in September this year with 200 standard shared bicycles.
To enhance mobility convenience for local residents and tourists, Gurye-gun will establish daily-use shared bicycle hubs at locations such as Gurye-eup Office, Gurye Medical Center, and the Public Sports Complex, and tourist-use shared bicycle hubs at major tourist sites including the Seomjin River Bamboo Forest Trail and Otter Ecology Park.
The county plans to develop a partnership with Kakao Mobility, the first of its kind at the county level nationwide, to operate shared bicycles and take responsibility for community development and environmental protection.
Kakao Mobility stated that it will donate the revenue from shared bicycle operations to the Gurye-gun community to support the expansion of mobility services in transportation-disadvantaged areas.
Governor Kim Soon-ho said, “Eco-friendly and convenient shared bicycles will not only improve Gurye’s transportation environment but also allow people to travel around Gurye in new and enjoyable ways, greatly contributing to enhancing the tourism image.”
Meanwhile, Kakao Mobility started the Kakao T Bike pilot service in 2019 and has been creating a daily life where mobility is convenient.
