Seongdong-gu Publishes Easy-to-Understand 'Senior Life Guide'
A total of 8,000 copies produced to allow seniors to see essential administrative information at a glance, distributed to welfare facilities
Providing 56 administrative information items across 7 areas including jobs, health, and leisure, leading the creation of an age-friendly city
Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) has published the "Seongdong-gu Senior Life Guide," which allows seniors to view essential administrative and welfare information at a glance.
This booklet is composed of 56 pieces of living information across 7 areas including ▲basic pension and jobs ▲leisure activities and lifelong education ▲nursing care services. The district made efforts to include various living information that may be necessary in daily life but is not easily accessible to seniors, such as free legal consultations, denture support for the elderly, and the life-sustaining medical decision system.
Also, as the saying goes, "the best welfare is a job," all public job information available for seniors to participate in has been included in the guide. In addition to administrative information, useful information such as senior fare discount systems is provided.
The district produced a total of 8,000 copies and distributed them to welfare facilities, expecting to minimize the inconvenience for seniors of having to search around to obtain necessary information.
Seongdong-gu is a member city of the World Health Organization (WHO) Age-friendly Cities International Network and has been establishing and implementing the Seongdong-gu Age-friendly City Creation Action Plan since 2020.
The action plan consists of 81 projects across 8 major areas including ▲external environment and facilities ▲convenience of transportation ▲stability of residential environment ▲employment and social participation ▲leisure and social activities.
In September, the district plans to evaluate the past age-friendly city creation projects and set a mid- to long-term plan for the next five years, aiming to renew its membership status in the WHO Age-friendly Cities International Network.
