Jeju Special Self-Governing Province welcomed the Chinese government's announcement on the 10th to fully allow group tours to Korea, expressing its intention to thoroughly prepare for accommodating the increase in foreign tourists.
Jeju Province has continuously requested the Chinese government to prioritize resuming group tours to Jeju, a visa-free area.
During the Korea-China Future Development Jeju International Exchange Week in July, a meeting with Xing Haiming, the Chinese Ambassador to Korea, reiterated the request to resume tourism from China, receiving a positive response.

Jeju Province is proactively responding to the full reopening of group tours from China by improving accommodation readiness and creating a welcoming atmosphere to revitalize tourism exchanges between Jeju and China.
On the 11th, a joint countermeasure meeting with tourism-related organizations will be held to discuss plans to improve accommodation readiness in preparation for the resumption of Chinese group tourists’ arrivals. Participants include Jeju Convention Bureau, Autonomous Police Unit, Immigration Office, Jeju Tourism Organization, Jeju Tourism Association, and Jeju Cruise Industry Association.
Following this, Governor Oh Young-hoon will visit China from the 17th to the 22nd for a 5-night, 6-day schedule to actively promote Jeju tourism and attract tourists.
Governor Oh will meet with Lu Yingchuan, Deputy Director of the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and hold a Jeju tourism briefing session in Beijing, inviting local travel industry representatives, airlines, and media together with Jeju Tourism Organization and Jeju Tourism Association.
During the meeting with Deputy Director Lu Yingchuan, discussions will cover not only tourism between Jeju and China but also the expansion of cultural and human exchanges, along with requests for support to revitalize group tours.
Following the Chinese government's announcement to resume group tours to Korea, Jeju Province will be the first local government in the country to hold a Jeju tourism briefing session in Beijing, aiming to create a tourism boom in China and accelerate the attraction of Chinese group tourists.
Kim Hee-hyun, Deputy Governor for Political Affairs, said, “The Chinese government’s announcement to fully open group tours to Korea is welcome news after waiting 6 years and 5 months since the THAAD incident. Jeju is the only place in Korea where Chinese tourists can enter visa-free and has been loved by Chinese visitors for its beautiful resorts and diverse tourism content with many things to enjoy. We will actively support attracting Chinese group tourists to expand tourism exchanges.”
