Gurye-gun Initiates Urban Flood Drainage System Construction
Resident Briefing on Sewerage Maintenance Project in Priority Management Areas
On the 8th, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do, announced that it held a residents' briefing session for the sewerage maintenance project in the key management areas of Gurye-eup and Masan-myeon.
The county organized this briefing session to reflect residents' opinions in the design while promoting the detailed design service for the urban flood prevention project in Gurye-eup and Masan-myeon, where flood damage occurred due to heavy rain in August 2020.
The county plans to establish an efficient drainage system tailored to the characteristics of the area by reflecting residents' opinions as much as possible.
County Governor Kim Soon-ho said, "Since the construction is taking place within the urban area, we will make every effort to minimize residents' inconvenience during the construction."
The county was selected in 2020 for the Ministry of Environment's 'Urban Flood Prevention Project in Key Sewerage Maintenance Areas' and secured a total project cost of 57 billion KRW including national subsidies (40.3 billion KRW for Gurye-eup and 16.7 billion KRW for Masan-myeon).
The county plans to complete the project by 2026. In Gurye-eup, one drainage pump station and two sluice pumps will be installed, along with the improvement and new construction of 8.7 km of stormwater pipes. In Masan-myeon, 7.8 km of stormwater pipes will be improved and newly constructed.
