Choi Jae-sung: "Abolishing the Democratic Party's Delegate System Only Causes Conflict"
Former Blue House Senior Secretary for Political Affairs, YTN Radio Interview
"Democratic Party Innovation Committee's Political Management Was Terrible"
Choi Jae-sung, former Senior Secretary for Political Affairs at the Blue House, said in an interview with YTN Radio's 'News King Park Ji-hoon' on the 10th regarding the Democratic Party of Korea's contentious issue of reforming the delegate system, "Is it desirable to provoke conflict at this point in time? From this perspective, abolishing the delegate system is not something that can be discussed now."
Choi said, "Even if the delegate system is abolished, it would have no impact on the general election. Then, is this just a change revolving around the next party leadership? (If so) it is a matter that does not need to be dealt with right now."
Choi also questioned, "Assemblyman Jeong Cheong-rae reportedly advocated for abolishing the delegate system even before the Innovation Committee was launched, but that could lead to more political misunderstandings and is undesirable. Lastly, when it comes to this, do we have the capacity to carry it out?"

Choi pointed out, "The so-called non-mainstream lawmakers who say the Innovation Committee is necessary, as well as the leadership that accepted this, lacked urgency. Therefore, the Innovation Committee should be sought as a desperate measure to overcome the current difficulties and crisis of the Democratic Party, but that aspect was somewhat lacking."
Choi criticized, "Before the content of innovation even emerged, the political management during the process of launching and after the launch was almost terrible. So regardless of what content actually comes out, it became difficult and unclear to gain public consent, to proceed well, or to achieve results. Moreover, due to several incidents and accidents, this has actually lost momentum for quite some time."
Choi evaluated, "From the initial appointment of Innovation Committee Chair Lee Rae-kyung, then her resignation, followed by the launch of the Innovation Committee under Kim Eun-kyung, political management was completely absent, so it was somewhat deflated from the start, and I believe the subsequent process made it even more difficult."
Regarding the responsibility of Representative Lee Jae-myung, Choi diagnosed, "Before discussing responsibility, this Innovation Committee lacked urgency and almost failed, so it did not produce substantial content or generate public response. If the Innovation Committee did not function as an energy for breakthrough, then politically, Representative Lee Jae-myung suffers the greatest damage."
