'Fifty-Agency Exclusive Contract Dispute' Mediation Fails... Court Recommends Further Negotiation
The court attempted to mediate the exclusive contract dispute between the group Fifty Fifty and their agency, but the parties failed to narrow their differences, resulting in a temporary breakdown. The court advised the parties to meet individually within the next week to seek a point of agreement.
The Seoul Central District Court Civil Division 50 (Chief Presiding Judge Park Beom-seok) held a mediation hearing on the 9th regarding Fifty Fifty's application for a provisional injunction to suspend the effect of their exclusive contract against their agency Attract.
The mother of group members Saena (Jung Se-hyun) and Aran (Jung Eun-ah), executives from Attract, and representatives from both sides attended and conducted a private mediation session for about two hours, but no agreement was reached, and the session was temporarily concluded. The court left open the possibility of an agreement and encouraged the parties to continue discussions by the 16th.
Han Kyung-hwan, a lawyer from the law firm Kwangjang representing Attract, stated, "Although mediation was not achieved, the court advised the parties to meet by the 16th to have sincere conversations and clear up misunderstandings." He added, "The members' side said they would confirm the intentions of the absent members and decide within a week whether to meet again to create a mutually beneficial environment, and inform both the court and us."
He continued, "We mentioned that if there are complaints about settlements, these are issues that can be resolved through sufficient dialogue upon return," adding, "We intend to make our best efforts and provide full support to restore Fifty Fifty to their previous state, with the premise being their return."
However, regarding the mediation terms proposed by the court that day, he said, "It is not appropriate to disclose them as the matter is confidential."

After a hearing on July 5 to hear both sides' opinions, the court referred the case to mediation on the 1st with the intention of resolving the conflict amicably through compromise. Fifty Fifty gained attention as their song "Cupid" entered the top ranks of the US Billboard and UK Official Charts.
