Large Vessels Docked at Boryeong Port and Taean Port, Chungnam 'Seek Shelter in Distant Waters'
Large vessels docked at Boryeong Port and Taean Port in Chungnam are evacuating to the open sea in the West Sea to escape the influence of Typhoon 'Khanun'.

The main topics discussed at the council were the timing of ship evacuation, suspension and resumption of port operations, and necessary measures for ship evacuation.
Currently, five coal carriers ranging from 40,000 tons to 100,000 tons are docked at Boryeong Port and Taean Port. These vessels will sequentially evacuate starting from the morning of the 9th and move to the open sea in the West Sea by midnight on October 10th, before the weather advisory takes effect.
During evacuation, each vessel will operate an emergency contact network and undergo safety management, including monitoring the main engine and generator for any abnormalities.
Choi Dong-seok, Director of the Shipping and Port Division of Chungnam Province, explained the reason for evacuation, saying, “Before entering the typhoon’s influence zone, small vessels in the area will evacuate to the harbor and take safety measures such as securing the hull. However, large vessels are difficult to secure in place, and staying in the port could actually be more dangerous.”
