Dr. Jin-Ho Lee Recruited as CTO
Data and AI Expert with Experience at Apple, Wemakeprice, and More
Digital non-life insurance company Carrot General Insurance has recruited an artificial intelligence (AI) expert from Apple headquarters in the United States as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
Carrot General Insurance announced on the 7th that it has appointed Dr. Jin-ho Lee, who worked on AI and machine learning development at Apple headquarters, as its CTO. Through this, the company plans to further strengthen its data-driven product development capabilities, a strength of digital insurers, and introduce differentiated and diverse products beyond automobile insurance.
CTO Lee is a data processing and AI expert who earned his master's and doctoral degrees in computer science from the Illinois Institute of Technology in the United States and gained about 17 years of field experience in Silicon Valley.
While working at Apple headquarters, CTO Lee was responsible for improving the web search engine quality of the voice-based AI service "Siri" and the search system "Spotlight." He served as a Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) developing technologies that use data collection, analysis, and machine learning to find better results.
Before joining Apple, he founded an edutech startup in Silicon Valley, overseeing development and successfully selling the company to a large corporation. He also worked as an engineer and development leader at the U.S. e-commerce company "Become.com." Last year, he returned to Korea and served as CTO of the e-commerce company Wemakeprice.
CTO Lee said, "I decided to join Carrot, Korea's first digital non-life insurer, because I resonate with the path it has taken and its corporate vision pursuing 'digital and data-driven business.' Based on the expertise and experience I have built in Silicon Valley, I will do my best to help Carrot grow its data-driven platform business."
