Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongbuk, Dispatches Medical Staff to Jamboree Venue
Gyeongbuk Governor Lee Cheol-woo, upon hearing on the 6th that patients were rapidly increasing at the 2023 Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree site due to heatwaves, COVID-19, and pests, urgently dispatched medical staff to the event venue.
Gyeongbuk Province sent a medical team of eight, including doctors, nurses, and medical assistants, along with the ‘Happy Hospital Bus’ from Andong, Gimcheon, and Pohang Medical Centers, to the Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree to provide medical care for participants suffering from heat-related illnesses and other conditions.
At the event site, Gyeongbuk Province plans to support medical aid capable of responding to the situation on the ground, as many patients are experiencing heat-related illnesses, headaches caused by sun allergies, insect bites, and dehydration requiring urgent intravenous fluid administration. They will also supply various necessary medicines that are in short supply.
This event, with about 40,000 youth participants, is the largest gathering since COVID-19, drawing nationwide attention, and Gyeongbuk Province is providing the most urgent medical support on site.
The ‘Happy Hospital Bus’ operated by Gyeongbuk Province conducts weekly mobile medical services for vulnerable groups such as disabled persons, elderly living alone, child-headed households, and multicultural families in remote villages. The team consists of eight members, including doctors, nurses, radiologists, and clinical pathologists.
