Magnitude 5.5 Earthquake in Shandong Province, China... Over 10 Injured
In the early morning of the 6th, a magnitude 5.5 earthquake occurred in Shandong Province, China, injuring more than 10 people.
The Korea Meteorological Administration announced that a magnitude 5.5 earthquake occurred in Shandong Province, China, at 2:33 a.m. local time on the 6th.

The Meteorological Administration cited the analysis results from the China Earthquake Administration (CEA), reporting that at 2:33 a.m. local time, a magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck 30 km south of Dezhou City in Shandong Province, China. The epicenter was located at 37.16 degrees north latitude and 116.34 degrees east longitude, with a depth of 10 km.
According to China Central Television (CCTV), the earthquake damaged 74 buildings and caused over 10 injuries. Videos shared on CCTV and social media (SNS) showed severe shaking inside homes, store shelves rattling causing items to fall, and parts of building exteriors collapsing. As a result, residents who evacuated outside their buildings reportedly spent the night sleepless.
The domestic Meteorological Administration assessed that there would be no impact from this earthquake within the country.
The State Council Earthquake Response and Disaster Relief Command in China issued a Level 4 national earthquake emergency response and dispatched personnel to lead rescue operations. The Shandong Emergency Management Department also declared a Level 3 earthquake rescue response, sending 15 fire rescue vehicles and 107 rescue workers to the earthquake area. Additionally, 24 fire rescue vehicles and 236 rescue workers from nearby regions were put on standby.

Within a 200 km radius of the earthquake area, there have been a total of 8 earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or higher in the past 5 years, including this one. This earthquake is the largest among them.
