Daejeon City to Expand Subway Operations for 'Daejeon 0 O'Clock Festival' Next Month
Daejeon City will extend the operating hours and increase the frequency of Line 1 of the Daejeon Metro during the upcoming ‘Daejeon 0시 Festival’ next month to enhance transportation convenience for visitors.
On the 4th, Daejeon City announced that during the festival period from the 11th to the 17th of next month, subway operating hours will be extended until 1 a.m., and the number of runs will be increased by 26 trips on weekdays.
The festival will be held along Jungang-ro and the nearby old downtown area within the 1 km section between Daejeon Station and the former Chungnam Provincial Office. During the festival, this section will be operated as a car-free street, with all vehicle traffic completely restricted.
Accordingly, Daejeon City decided to extend subway operating hours and increase frequency to reduce traffic congestion around Jungang-ro and improve accessibility to the festival site. The entire Jungang-ro area where the festival takes place is served by the subway.
Along with the expanded subway service, Daejeon City has secured parking lots on the outskirts of the festival site and prepared a plan to use the subway and shuttle buses to move visitors to Jungang-ro.
The peripheral parking lots, totaling about 17,000 spaces, are located near 12 local universities including Chungnam National University, Hanbat National University, Mokwon University, and public facilities near subway stations such as the World Cup Stadium. Among these, 11,801 parking spaces will be available free of charge.
Daejeon City will provide guidance on how to use the nearest subway stations for each peripheral parking lot, and shuttle buses will operate from some parking lots to facilitate access to the event venue.
The shuttle buses will run routes starting from Daejeon Complex Terminal, Hanbat Sports Complex, and Hanbat Arboretum, as well as a route circulating Hannam University, Health University, and Daejeon University. Information on parking and shuttle bus usage can be found on the Daejeon 0시 Festival website.
