Demolition of Ground Floors at Gwangju Hwajeong I-Park Fully Carried Out Amid Resident Opposition
The demolition scope of the Gwangju Hwajeong I-Park mixed-use apartment complex has been adjusted to include the entire above-ground floors.
On the 2nd, according to industry sources, HDC Hyundai Development Company met with the representatives of the prospective Hwajeong I-Park residents and made this decision.
Hyundai Development initially excluded the 1st to 3rd floors, where commercial and neighborhood living facilities are located, from the demolition scope. However, after protests from the prospective residents, the demolition range was adjusted. Detailed construction plans and measures to shorten the move-in schedule due to the delayed reconstruction completion will be discussed later.
Previously, in May last year, Hyundai Development announced plans to demolish all eight buildings, but at a press briefing last month, they stated that the demolition would be limited to the above-ground residential parts of the eight buildings. In response, the prospective residents protested and demanded a full demolition.
