Prosecutors Indict Four Members of Shindaebang Group on Charges of Sexual Exploitation of Minors
The group known as ‘Sindaebang Fam,’ accused of threatening minors and sexually exploiting them while active in the online community DC Inside’s Depression Gallery, has been brought to trial.
According to the legal community on the 2nd, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office’s Women and Children Crime Investigation Division 2 (Chief Prosecutor Kim Bong-jun) announced that on the 28th of last month, Kim (25), a member of the so-called ‘Sindaebang Fam,’ was indicted in custody, while other members Park (21) and Lim (27) were indicted without detention.
They are accused of being members of ‘Sindaebang Fam’ who, since late 2020, have been active in DC Inside’s Depression Gallery, luring runaway youths to their base where they committed assault, threats, and sexual crimes (violations of the Youth Protection Act, coercion of children to engage in sexual acts under the Child Welfare Act, etc.).
Additionally, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office’s Women and Children Crime Investigation Division 1 (Chief Prosecutor Kim Eun-mi) also indicted Jeong (29) in custody the day before for committing sexual crimes against a youth met through the Depression Gallery.
Jeong is accused of soliciting prostitution from minors or producing and distributing sexually exploitative materials between March and April of this year (violations of the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles Against Sexual Abuse, including solicitation and production of sexual exploitation materials).

The Depression Gallery gained attention when a teenage girl, A, jumped from a building in Gangnam and live-streamed the act on social networking services (SNS). Following the incident in April, where a teenage student’s extreme act of self-harm at a high-rise building in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, was live-streamed on SNS, the prosecution and police have been investigating suspicions of aiding suicide and sexual crimes targeting minors linked to the Depression Gallery.
