KB Financial "Possibility of Stock and Bond Price Increase in Second Half of Year"... Investment Strategy
KB Financial Group sent the '2023 Second Half CEO Letter,' which includes economic outlooks and asset allocation strategy advice for the second half of the year, to individual and institutional clients on the 2nd.
This letter dispatch is part of the investment conference held in a metaverse space last January.
Yoon Jong-kyu, Chairman of KB Financial Group, cited the most significant change in the economic perspective during the first half of this year as the shift of investors' interest from 'inflation' to 'economic conditions.' He explained that this indicates growing calls for discussions on economic recovery due to the burden of interest rate hikes that have lasted for over a year.
The 'Second Half Economic Outlook' focuses on the possibility of the U.S. entering a recession by year-end, whether the U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed) will implement additional tightening and the resulting exchange rate fluctuations, and whether South Korea's economy will rebound in the second half. Based on this economic outlook, Chairman Yoon explained in the 'Asset Allocation Strategy' section that "there is a possibility that both stock and bond prices will rise in the second half, but bonds are expected to contribute more to the overall returns of held assets."
Considering volatility and the elevated market interest rate levels simultaneously, he believes bonds can enhance the overall returns of held assets. Therefore, he advised maintaining investment preferences in the order of bonds, stocks, and alternative assets.
Additionally, in the 'Customer Investment Strategy' section, he recommended individual clients invest in high-quality corporate bonds with attractive interest rates and encouraged investments in long-term bonds. For institutional clients, he recommended the U.S. stock market over China for the next year.
