Gwangju Seo-gu 'Barefoot Walking Club Case Sharing Meeting' Held

Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) is establishing 'barefoot walking' as a local culture amid its growing boom.

On the 2nd, Seo-gu announced that it held the 'Barefoot Road Seo-gu Case Sharing Meeting' at the Deulbul Hall of Seo-gu Office, attended by about 100 members of the barefoot walking club.

The event, hosted by the Seo-gu Public Health Center, was organized as a time for members who completed barefoot walking every day without fail for 100 days from April to July to share their experiences.

Additionally, there was a special award ceremony with certificates specially made by Kwon Taekhwan, principal of Barefoot School (professor at Daegu National University of Education), safe barefoot walking education, and a photo exhibition of members.

One member who attended said, "Through the barefoot walking club activities, I have been practicing barefoot walking systematically and consistently, and I have stopped taking hypertension medication that I had been on for a long time, recovering my health. Now, as a barefoot evangelist, I actively recommend barefoot walking for the health of my family, friends, and neighbors."

Kim Ikang, mayor of Seo-gu, said, "Recently, there has been such a barefoot walking boom in Seo-gu that the number of residents walking barefoot has rapidly increased. From young children to the elderly, men and women of all ages can enjoy small but certain happiness through the creation of barefoot roads, and we will accelerate this effort."

Meanwhile, Seo-gu has established barefoot roads in Sangmu Citizen Park, Pungam Lake Park, Geumho Children's Park, and Ssanghak Children's Park, and plans to create barefoot roads with unique characteristics in all 18 neighborhoods by next year.
