According to Suncheon City in Jeollanam-do on the 2nd, 2,000 members of the German delegation arrived on the 29th and began pre-camp activities. On the 30th and 31st, the group was divided into two teams: one team participated in training activities such as water play, sport climbing, Nanta drumming, and archery at the training center, while the other team explored the Suncheonman National Garden.
At 1 p.m. on the 31st, Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu personally welcomed 1,000 German youths visiting the National Garden.
Mayor Noh introduced the Ocheon Green Plaza to the German youths, saying, “The Ocheon Green Plaza was created inspired by Germany’s ‘Bonn Retention Basin.’ I hope you have a healthy and meaningful time during your stay in Korea despite the heat.”
The German delegation said, “We arrived early to visit Suncheon before the Saemangeum Jamboree, the first large-scale international event held since COVID-19. The training activities at the training center were fun, and it was great to camp on the lush green grass. Also, the warm hospitality and the many sights at the Suncheonman National Garden, where various flowers are in full bloom, will be a wonderful memory.”
After completing training activities in Suncheon on the 1st, the German delegation moved to Saemangeum in Buan County to participate in the 25th World Scout Jamboree, which runs until the 12th.
