Dongjak-gu, Emergency Support for Vulnerable Groups to Heatwaves and Flooding
Distinctive Support for Heatwave and Flood-Vulnerable Groups in Dongjak-gu
Additional Dongjak-gu Type Support Following Emergency Welfare Assistance... Air Conditioners, Food Expenses, Daily Necessities, etc.
Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Ilha) is making every effort to provide additional support following emergency welfare assistance for vulnerable groups facing difficulties due to concentrated heavy rain and heatwaves during the summer season.
The Emergency Welfare Support System is a program that quickly provides emergency living expenses, medical expenses, housing costs, education expenses, and more to households struggling to maintain their livelihood due to crises such as unemployment, illness, or natural disasters. It is divided into national and Seoul types.
As of the end of June, the district completed Seoul-type emergency welfare support worth about 320 million KRW for 443 households within the region with an income below 100% of the median income standard who did not receive national-type emergency welfare support.
In particular, the district separately allocated its own budget and by mid-last month began additional support unique to Dongjak-gu for households affected by heatwaves and flooding.
First, 96 low-income elderly, children, and youth households vulnerable to heatwaves were supported with wall-mounted air conditioners and cooling supplies to help them spend a cool summer.
Additionally, food expenses of 450,000 KRW, food and daily necessities packages, and summer blankets were provided to low-income households affected by flooding, recommended by the district office and local community centers.
Going forward, the district plans to continue monitoring vulnerable households and provide additional Dongjak-gu type emergency welfare support as needed.
