First Visit as Defense Minister... Discussion on Defense Industry Cooperation
Defense Minister Lee Jong-seop is visiting Uzbekistan to discuss ways to expand defense and defense industry cooperation.
On the 31st, the Ministry of National Defense announced that Minister Lee will visit Uzbekistan from today until August 3rd to pay a courtesy call on Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and hold talks with Viktor Mahmudov, Secretary-General of the National Security Council (NSC), and Bahodir Kurbanov, Minister of Defense. Additionally, a bilateral defense industry promotion conference will be held to discuss strategic defense industry cooperation measures.
This is the first time a South Korean Minister of National Defense has visited Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan established diplomatic relations with South Korea in January 1992 and with North Korea in February 1992, and maintains a special strategic partnership with South Korea.
