Prime Minister Issues Emergency Orders to Protect Vulnerable Groups
Prime Minister Han Duck-soo gave an urgent directive on the 27th regarding the heatwave warnings issued in most regions nationwide, stating, "Ensure thorough protection and safety management for vulnerable groups to heatwaves such as elderly living alone, homeless people, and residents of small rooms, and make sure there are no disruptions in on-site inspections and responses."
According to the Prime Minister's Office, on the same day, Prime Minister Han ordered emergency responses to relevant ministries including the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Employment and Labor, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, as well as local governments.
The Prime Minister asked the Minister of Employment and Labor to "inspect and encourage adherence to guidelines for preventing heat-related illnesses, such as adjusting working hours for outdoor workers, to ensure these rules are followed on site," and instructed the Ministers of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and Oceans and Fisheries to "support the installation of shade structures and operation of ventilation facilities to prevent heat damage to orchards, vegetables, livestock barns, aquaculture farms, and workers."
He also told the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to "strengthen inspections for deformation of road facilities and railways caused by the heatwave and enhance safety management for workers at road and railway construction and maintenance sites."
The Prime Minister instructed the Minister of the Interior and Safety and heads of local governments to "thoroughly conduct protection and surveillance activities for vulnerable groups through phone calls or direct visits, and check and inspect whether heatwave mitigation facilities such as cooling shelters, shade tents, and parasol rental stations are operating normally."

Prime Minister Han particularly emphasized, "Quickly convey the heatwave situation to the public through disaster text messages, electronic signboards, and village broadcasts, and provide detailed instructions on public behavior to prepare for the heatwave," adding, "Ensure sufficient rest for those participating in recent flood damage recovery work to enable safe recovery activities."
