The writer, A, who lives in Cheongju, said, "I received such great help from the taxi driver, but I have no way to repay it, so I posted this hoping there might be a way to return the favor."
At the time, A had just passed the one-year mark with her child and was calling a taxi to go to the hospital for a regular checkup. While hurriedly going down the stairs, she missed a step and fell. "Fortunately, the baby was unharmed, but I rolled over with my whole body to protect the child, resulting in a fractured ankle and torn skin," she explained.
After checking the baby's condition, A limped to the taxi waiting in front of her house. The driver immediately examined her injured leg and said, "We should go to the nearest hospital emergency room rather than the original destination," then took some tissues from the trunk to help stop the bleeding.
The driver continued to check A's wounds on the way to the emergency room. He asked, "Is there anyone to contact for you?" A replied, "I'm a single mother, so I have no one," and burst into tears. The driver comforted her, saying, "It's okay, don't worry."
Upon arriving at the emergency room, A tried to pay the taxi fare, but the driver said it was not about the fare, helped her inside, and even assisted with the registration. He left without accepting any payment, only saying, "Get treated quickly."
After receiving emergency treatment, A wanted to thank the driver and called him through the taxi-hailing app. She said, "The driver's warm heart reminded me of my father who passed away early 20 years ago, and I was at a loss for words," adding, "I tried to pay the taxi fare, but he kept refusing."
A concluded, "This is the first time in my life that I have received such great kindness, so I hope my gratitude reaches him. If there is no way for me to repay the driver's kindness, I pray that even greater happiness comes to him."
Netizens responded in the comments, saying, "This is why the world is worth living," "I hope the driver receives many times more good things," and "I hope the writer recovers quickly and raises the child well."
