Goheung-gun Recruiting Transportation Service Providers for 'Transportation Voucher Taxi' for Mobility-Disadvantaged
Expansion of Mobility Rights for Non-Wheelchair Disabled Persons and Pregnant Women
Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) announced that it is recruiting transportation service providers for the ‘Voucher Taxi for Transportation Vulnerable Groups’ to expand mobility rights for non-wheelchair disabled persons, pregnant women, and those accompanied by infants and young children.
The ‘Voucher Taxi’ is a service that normally operates as a regular taxi but, when dispatched by the Transportation Vulnerable Support Center, transports non-wheelchair users among the transportation vulnerable groups to their destinations.
So far, among users of the transportation vulnerable call taxis that can accommodate wheelchairs, there have been a significant number of non-wheelchair users, and as the number of users increases every year along with longer waiting times, disabled persons have faced difficulties in using the service.
Accordingly, the county introduced 13 voucher taxis, which are customized vehicles for transportation vulnerable groups other than special transportation means, as of August 1, 2022, and plans to expand the fleet to a total of 21 vehicles in 2023.
The recruitment target for voucher taxis is general and private taxi transportation service providers within the jurisdiction, and applications can be submitted in person at the local eup/myeon offices or the Goheung-gun Economic Industry Department’s Transportation and Traffic Team by July 26.
Among applicants, service providers will be selected by July 31 through document screening and interviews based on criteria such as accident-free driving records, vehicle age, taxi driving experience, and volunteer history. After the announcement of successful candidates, agreements will be signed and driver training will be conducted, with operations scheduled to begin in August.
